About the Book

“Horus Rising: The Horus Heresy, Book 1” contributed by Dan Abnett in 2018 is the re-release of the mass market edition of the previous novel in the bestselling Hours Heresy series.

The human Imperium has reached its pinnacle after thousands of years of growth and conquest. With his vision for humanity realized, the Emperor transfers authority to his Warmaster, Horus, and returns to Terra.

Is Horus, however, powerful enough to command his fellow commanders and carry out the Emperor’s plan, or will such immense power corrupt him?

The eBook edition includes integrated images of the narrative’s characters and events and an afterword that contextualizes the story within the series.

Book Review

The book moves quickly, yet you can pick up pieces of the Imperium of Man and humanity’s distant past in between chapters.

The action is fast-paced, the gorge is raging, and the gothic-style descriptions that blend science fiction and fantasy are out of this world.

If you enjoyed John Steakley’s “Armor,” this novel will strike a chord with you.

As a newbie to WH40K and the Warhammer universe in general, you will find this to be an excellent introduction to the Legion, the Primarchs and Chapters, and how they relate to the larger concept.

Key Takeaways from the Book

The narrative style of this story will appeal to fans of Bernard Cornwell’s historical fiction.

This work will appeal to David Weber’s and John Ringo’s space warfare and speculative military fiction fans.

Book Review

Fulgrim’s story, before and after Horus’s fall to Chaos is fascinating. Fulgrim’s character is extensively established, with numerous well-developed interactions with his Legion and followers.

Also notable is the growth of Fulgrim and Ferrus Manus’ brotherhood and friendship. They have a good history between them that really conveys the idea of love and concern between the two brothers.

The plot was overall intriguing and enjoyable, with a legion and hero succumbing to Chaos’s grip.

About the Book

“Hereticus (Eisenhorn Book 3)” written by Dan Abnett is the 3rd book in the Eisenhorn series.

The Inquisition fights a hidden war against humanity’s foulest adversaries – the alien, the filthy, and the unholy – across many worlds.

Inquisitor Eisenhorn is forced to take horrible measures to rescue himself and his comrades when a struggle with an ancient foe turns fatal.

But how much Chaos can a man take before he transforms into the same thing he swore to destroy?

His battle to defend his acts (especially the daemon summoning) makes for an interesting book that appropriately concludes the trilogy.

Book Review

This is an excellent book and series. Make sure to put this book on your list if you want to do some reading in the Warhammer 40K universe.

This was a fantastic read. It’s possible that this is the final Eisenhorn novel, and if so, it’s a suitable conclusion. Abnett wraps up several plot threads while launching a slew of new ones. What’s not to like about nonstop action surrounded by fantastic characters?

The novel is fascinating, especially in terms of Godwyn Fischig’s and Cherubael’s relationships, as well as the protagonist’s slow but steady descent into radicalism – a perilous tango with heresy.

Key Takeaways from the Book

A terrible entity from the past returns to seek a deadly vengeance on Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn in the concluding novel of Dan Abnett’s blockbuster trilogy.

Book Review

In a universe of novels where the Imperium has struggled alone to fend off Chaos for 10 millennia, the bar for writing about the return of a loyalist primarch is astronomically high.

The story is made up of numerous incidents in Segmentum Ultima that culminate in Roboute Guilliman’s grand “realization” regarding the Emperor! You’re going to adore it! Make it a point to read this book!

The Gathering Storm events are introduced in this book (Primaris SM, Guilliman, etc). The book is fantastic, and it’s a great way to kick off the GS events.

It was a pleasure to read Sabbat Crusade stories by authors other than Dan Abnett; the ghost stories were fantastic, as expected, but strangely, the stories involving chaotic forces probably will be your favorites.
