Bill Kahan Kapri, professionally known as Kodak Black, is an American rapper born on June 11, 1997, in Pompano Beach, Florida.
He rose to fame with his 2014 single “No Flockin”. His debut album, “Painting Pictures” (2017), reached No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard 200, featuring the top 10 hit “Tunnel Vision”.
His second album, “Dying to Live” (2018), peaked at No. 1, backed by the hit “Zeze”.
Despite his success, Kodak faced controversies and legal issues, including rape accusations in 2016, later plea bargaining to assault and battery in 2021.
In 2019, he was imprisoned for weapon-related charges but was released in 2021 after President Trump commuted his sentence.
While imprisoned, he released “Bill Israel” (2020). His 2022 album, “Back for Everything”, featured “Super Gremlin”. Born Dieuson Octave, he legally changed his name, grew up in Florida’s Golden Acres, began rapping in elementary and adopted his stage name from his Instagram handle.
