Aesop is thought to be a fictional author of Greek fables.
Many attempts were made to prove he was real with some saying he was a 6th-century BCE slave and others claiming he was an advisor to a king.
There are also stories of him being from different places like Thrace or Ethiopia.
Aesop likely wasn’t a real person but a name created for someone who wrote fables.
The first collection of his fables was made in the 4th century BCE by Demetrius, Phalareus and later Phaedrus and Jean de La Fontaine were influenced by these stories.
