Ian Fleming, well known for his James Bond spy novels, was a British novelist, journalist, and naval intelligence officer.

Fleming was born into a rich family related to the commercial business Robert Fleming & Co., and his father served in the British Parliament as the Member of Parliament for Henley from 1910 until 1917, when he died on the Western Front.

Fleming was educated at Eton, Sandhurst, and briefly at the universities of Munich and Geneva before beginning his writing career.
