Kevin Jerome Gilyard, known as Kevin Gates, is an American rapper, singer and entrepreneur, signed to Bread Winners’ Association and Atlantic Records.
Born on February 5, 1986, in the USA to a Puerto Rican mother and African American father, he faced a turbulent upbringing, losing his father to AIDS at 14.
Gates married Dreka Haynes in 2015 and they have two children, Islah and Khaza.
He is a practicing Muslim and went for Hajj in 2016. Gates’ debut album, Islah, peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart and he released several mixtapes that also charted in the top 40.
