Mercedes Justine Kaestner-Varnado, known in the wrestling world as Sasha Banks, is an American professional wrestler.
Born on January 26, 1992, she currently performs under the moniker Mercedes Moné for New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and its sister promotion, World Wonder Ring Stardom.
Varnado’s wrestling career began in 2010 with Chaotic Wrestling. In 2012, she joined WWE, initially performing in its developmental territory, NXT, where she later clinched the NXT Women’s Championship.
She and Bayley made history in 2015, headlining NXT TakeOver with the first iron woman match in WWE.
On WWE’s main roster, Varnado secured the Raw Women’s Championship five times and made several groundbreaking achievements, including headlining a WWE pay-per-view and winning inaugural championships.
Notably, at WrestleMania 37, she co-headlined as one of the first two black women. After leaving WWE in 2022, she debuted with NJPW/Stardom in 2023.
